Japanese Chisel Hoop Setter (Sagariwauchi)
This jig is used to adjust the katsura (chisel hoop) before using your chisel for the first time. Simply place the setter over the handle and tap it straight to apply force to the katsura for easy setting.
Please note - while you do not need to use this to set the hoop on your chisels, this is the traditional method of setting them, and does make for a smooth intiial setup process.
(Do not use this with chisels with blades of 6 mm or less, as they may break.)
