This double-bevel detail knife is made of three layers of high speed steel. The handle is made of Cherry, and is designed to provide an exceptionally comfortable and secure grip. As a double-edged tool, it is capable of both push and pull cuts, allowing you to carve freely without needing to worry about wood grain direction or the angle of your stroke. This also makes it a knife for left or right-handed carvers. It is particularly well-suited for bird carving—a discipline that frequently utilizes pull cuts—as well as for carving cutlery such as spoons and forks.
The high speed steel retains a sharper edge longer, and Michihamono makes a very cool E-Z Care sharpening kit for their high speed steel tools which we highly recommend.
